Dylan Mason is designing, photographing, writing, and staying active.
I’m a designer from Calgary, Canada working on (mostly) apps and websites. I also manage the design teams at YNAB, where we’re helping people build good financial habits. Despite all the digital work, my design education was traditional—books, logos, and graphic design.
Photography was one of my earliest hobbies and I had to decide between designing and taking photos at university. I think everything worked out okay in the end, but my passion for photography never disappeared. I’m in the middle of a photo book project documenting my neighbourhood at night (among all the other everyday moments I enjoy capturing).
At some point I realized I should publicly share some of the things I’ve written about in my 10+ years of private journaling—so read more about books, design, health and fitness, management, photography, technology, and travel on my blog.
Finally, health and fitness are a big part of my life, so I spend my free time running, cycling, strength training, hiking, or (just) walking. I also tend to fall down the nutrition rabbit hole every once in a while. All of this is in the service of fun and longevity.
